John W. Bellinger of San Antonio received his bachelor’s degree in ’76 (Agricultural Education) and a master’s degree in ’78 (Animal Science) from Texas A&M University, where he was a member and then coached the TAMU Intercollegiate Meat Judging Team. 

In 1994 John and his wife Gina ’89 (Microbiology) formed Food Safety Net Services from ground zero. Prior to merging the company in 2021 with the Certified Group, the startup company grew to over 800 employees and was the largest food microbial testing business in North America with 19 laboratories. Mr. Bellinger is the former founding partner and CEO of Texas Western Beef. In addition, he founded Agri-West International (food exporter) along with Bellinger Development (real estate) and Just Pots (retail and wholesale pottery). 

Mr. Bellinger is the recipient of the Texas A&M University outstanding Alumnus Award in both the College of Agriculture and the Department of Animal Science along with being inducted into the U.S. Meat Industry Hall of Fame. He is the former Chairman of the U.S. Meat Export Federation and the Southwest Meat Association as well as a board member of several private companies in the U.S., Mexico, and Japan. John was a former member of the Texas Beef Council. He is a member of the College of Agriculture Development Council and a former member of the Texas A&M Animal Science External Advisory Council.  

Gina and John Bellinger are the proud Aggie parents of Lt. Jack Bellinger ’21, (USMC) and Lauren ’23 and ’24. 

Mr. Bellinger was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in 2023. He serves as Chairman of the Committee on Research and as a member of the Committee on Audit and Risk Management, the Committee on Academic and Student Affairs, and the Committee on Medical and Health Affairs. Mr. Bellinger was appointed in 2025 to serve as a member of the University Lands Advisory Board. His term expires on February 1, 2029.
