Lisa D. Cantu
Lisa Cantu of Mission, Texas is a third-year doctoral student at Texas A&M University – College Station, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration with an emphasis in Educational Leadership & Policy. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science alongside a Master of Public Service & Administration from Texas A&M in 2024.
Ms. Cantu remains highly engaged with student life at Texas A&M. Passionate about positively impacting Aggies, she has previously served as an SEC in DC delegate, 1879 Society Ambassador, class agent and chief student leader of Aggieland’s tour guides.
She has also served on Texas A&M’s 2040 Strategic Plan committee and Student Experience committee as well as the Community & Aggie Network Task Force
Ms. Cantu has been recognized with Texas A&M University’s Buck Weirus Spirit Award, which recognizes students who make outstanding contributions to student life and the Aggie community. She was also awarded the Mance L. Park Memorial Fellowship, an honor presented annually to students who demonstrate exceptional promise for exemplary service to public education.
Prior to her appointment as student regent, she served as the student representative to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Ms. Cantu was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in May 2026. She will serve as the Board’s student regent through May 31, 2027.
