Virta is a virtual clinic that helps members eat their way to better health with care plans made just for them and support from health care clinicians, coaches, and digital health tools. What Virta members get:

  • A nutrition therapy plan backed by clinical research
  • Tips to make meals tasty and healthier
  • Personalized clinician care and coaching
  • Daily support via mobile/desktop app
  • Meter, scale, and testing supplies

Meal Time with Virta
Virta members eat their way to better health with a plan made just for them and support from health care clinicians, coaches, and digital health tools. Within 10 weeks, members lost an average of 17.6 pounds and 87% of members stopped or reduced insulin.

How? Virta’s plan is based on nutrient needs, not calorie counting. Many people who struggle with high blood sugar and weight can be carbohydrate (carb) intolerant. Carbs break down into sugar in the body. And, the amount of carbs a body can handle will vary from person to person. That’s why Virta’s care team will help you build a balanced food plan based on your body’s needs, tastes, and lifestyle.

Am I eligible?
Virta is available to A&M System employees, spouses, retirees, or dependents with type 2 diabetes between the ages of 18 and 79 who are enrolled in a A&M care or J Plan. Graduate student employees enrolled in the Grad Plan are NOT eligible at this time. There are some medical conditions that would exclude patients from the Virta treatment. Start the application process now to find out if you qualify. Visit the TAMUS Virta website to check for eligibility. Please reach out to support@virtahealth.com if you have any questions.
