Coursera Career Academy Plus

The Texas A&M University System has partnered with Coursera to provide participating member institutions with opportunities to integrate industry-recognized microcredentials and applied learning experiences across academic disciplines.

Through this initiative, colleges, departments, and academic programs may incorporate Coursera Career Academy Plus professional certificates, courses, and Guided Projects into existing undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Institutions may also use these resources to develop new non-degree learning opportunities that support students’ academic, professional, and career goals.

The initiative is designed to help students build relevant knowledge and job-ready skills by leveraging Coursera’s extensive catalog of industry-developed content. Participating institutions receive access to more than 40 professional certificates available through Coursera Career Academy Plus, along with Coursera’s Guided Projects repository.

From Pilot to Systemwide Initiative

The Coursera Career Academy Plus initiative began as a pilot involving Colleges of Business at several Texas A&M University System member institutions. The pilot explored how industry-recognized professional certificates could complement traditional degree programs, enhance career readiness, and provide students with opportunities to develop in-demand skills alongside their academic coursework.

Based on the strong engagement and positive outcomes from the pilot, the initiative has expanded to support colleges, departments, and academic programs across all 12 member institutions. Today, the initiative enables a broader range of disciplines to integrate Coursera Career Academy Plus resources into academic programs, co-curricular experiences, and workforce development efforts, helping prepare students for success in an increasingly dynamic workforce.

Campus Leads

Each participating member institution has designated a Campus Lead and Co-Lead to coordinate implementation and support engagement across the institution. Faculty, staff, academic leaders, and program administrators who are interested in incorporating Coursera resources into their programs should contact their institution’s Lead and Co-Lead for more information.
