Finding Funding Opportunities

Federal Sponsors

Grants.gov is the federal government’s central portal for finding and applying to competitive funding opportunities across all major agencies. It provides a single, searchable location for current solicitations, eligibility details, and application instructions.

NSF supports fundamental research and education across science and engineering disciplines. Opportunities include core disciplinary programs, cross-cutting initiatives, and limited-submission competitions. You can find funding opportunities on this page. Or, explore funded awards.

Our Sponsor pages offer a deeper dive into federal agencies, programs, and funding opportunities.

Internal Funding Opportunity Tracker

We maintain a curated spreadsheet of selected past and current funding opportunities, including summaries, key details, and direct links to sponsor announcements. This internal resource is designed to help researchers quickly scan relevant programs, identify recurring opportunities, and understand sponsor priorities without starting from scratch. While not exhaustive, it serves as a practical companion to sponsor websites and other search tools.

Funding Opportunity Aggregators and Search Tools

Commercial funding search platforms can significantly streamline the process of identifying relevant opportunities by aggregating federal, foundation, and industry-sponsored programs into searchable databases with advanced filtering, alerts, and researcher profiles. Many The Texas A&M System institutions maintain subscriptions to services such as Pivot, GrantForward, and other proprietary tools, making them available to researchers at no cost.

Check with your local Research Development office or library to confirm which platforms you can access and to get help setting up tailored funding alerts.

Tip: Private sponsors often rely on invitation-only or limited calls, making networking and early awareness especially important.

Getting Started

If you are new to pursuing external funding, start by connecting with your institution’s Research Development Office or The Texas A&M University System Research Development Office. We can help identify appropriate funding opportunities, interpret sponsor requirements, and guide you through the proposal development and submission process.
