Staff Council

The purpose of the System Offices Staff Council is to provide System Offices employees with a forum for raising, discussing, and making recommendations on current policy and procedures to enable them to better serve System Offices, The Texas A&M University System, and the State of Texas. The Staff Council is committed to assessing, prioritizing, and communicating staff needs, and to responding to those needs through the implementation of developmental programs and job-enhancing initiatives.

Feedback

The Staff Council is a resource for Texas A&M System Offices employees to provide feedback, including issues, questions, needs, or requests. When you reach out to us through any of the following avenues, we research, discuss, and (subject to a majority vote) escalate the feedback to our executive sponsor, the Deputy Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer of The Texas A&M University System.

 

Goals

  • Provide a means of communication between System Offices staff and administration to articulate staff concerns and recommendations.
  • Expand System Offices employee recognition programs.
  • Promote camaraderie and interdepartmental cooperation among System Offices employees.
  • Provide staff development opportunities.
  • Provide community involvement opportunities.
  • Provide funding for Staff Council operation and activities.

Employee of the Quarter

The Employee of the Quarter (EOQ) Award recognizes the accomplishments of budgeted individuals employed by the System Offices. Four individuals will receive the award each year. Each award winner receives

  • Certificate signed by the Chancellor
  • Pewter plate with the System seal
  • Engraved pen set
  • One day of paid administrative leave
  • A check in the amount of $1,000
  • Their name displayed on an Employee of the Quarter plaque

Student of the Semester

The Student Employee of the Semester (SOS) Award recognizes the efforts of System Offices student employees each spring and each fall semester.

Each award winner receives a certificate signed by the Chancellor, an engraved pen set and a $250 check.

Outstanding Employee Service Award

The Outstanding Employee Service Awards annually recognize the accomplishments of two individuals employed within the System Offices. The two award recipients will be recognized by the Chancellor at the System Offices annual meeting in December.

Each award winner receives a check in the amount of $1,500 and a commemorative plaque.

Staff Scholarship

The System Offices Staff Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to System Office budgeted employees pursuing a degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Barry B. Thompson Scholarship

The Barry B. and Sandra Thompson ‘Brass Ring’ Endowed System Administrative and General Office Employee Scholarship was created to support employees in the continuation of their educational achievement. The scholarship honors Chancellor Barry B. Thompson, and his wife Sandra, for years of dedicated service to higher education in the State of Texas.

System Offices Tuition Assistance Program

The Texas A&M University System Offices Tuition Assistance Program is for full-time System Offices employees pursuing a degree at any A&M System university (graduate or undergraduate). Staff Council is not involved in the administration or funding for this program; information here is for your convenience.
