Overview
Established in 1889 as a normal, or teachers’ college by visionary founder William Leonidas Mayo, Texas A&M University-Commerce is the 5th oldest public institution in Texas, located one-hour east of the Dallas Metroplex. The university’s colleges of Business, Education & Human Services, Humanities, Social Sciences & Arts, Science & Engineering, and Agriculture & Natural Resources offer degrees in more than 100 majors. Current university enrollment includes more than 12,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students and A&M-Commerce is the third-largest institution in the Texas A&M University System.
