The Texas A&M University System Veteran Excellence Awards
Student Veteran Excellence Award
The Student Veteran Excellence Award is presented to a student veteran at any institution of the Texas A&M University System who:
- Demonstrates service to the campus and/or community
- Exemplifies the core values of the campus or military services
- Serves as an advocate for student veterans or veteran issues
Students must be nominated by faculty, staff or peers. To be eligible, students must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00, with verified current or former military status.
The recipient of the Student Veteran Excellence Award will receive a certificate and plaque, along with a $250 donation to the recipient’s local student veteran association or campus veteran services office to support a student veteran program or event.

The recipient of the 2019-2020 Student Veteran Excellence Award was Shae Diehl, a Navy veteran enrolled at Texas A&M University-Kingsville
Faculty/Staff Veteran Support Excellence Award
The Veteran Support Excellence Award is presented to a faculty of staff member of an institution of the Texas A&M University System who:
- Provides direct support for the academic, personal, and/or professional growth of student veterans
- Developed, implemented, or supports a program that enhances student veteran success
- Serves as an advocate for student veterans or veteran issues
The recipient of the Veteran Support Excellence Award will receive a certificate and plaque, along with a $250 donation to the recipient’s local student veteran association or campus veteran services office to support a student veteran program or event.
