COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System approved the appointment Thursday of a member of the Board of Directors of The University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company, more commonly called “UTIMCO.” The board also made appointments to the University Lands Advisory Board.

Texas A&M University System Regent Cliff Thomas replaces Regent Phil Adams on the UTIMCO board. The UTIMCO term for Regent Thomas will expire in 2021.

UTIMCO, which was created in March 1996, oversees investments for The Texas A&M University System and the University of Texas System.

The board also reappointed Dr. Steve Holditch, a holder of three degrees in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M, to the University Lands Advisory Board.

Dr. Holditch will be joined on the University Lands Advisory Board by Regent Elaine Mendoza, vice chairman of the Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System, and Mark Albers, who holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M and is a former senior vice president of Exxon Mobil Corp.

The Lands Board was created to provide advice and strategic direction regarding the operation and management of University Lands. University Lands is the office that manages the surface and mineral interests of 2.1 million acres of land across nineteen counties in West Texas for the benefit of the Permanent University Fund, which benefits The Texas A&M University System and the University of Texas System.
