The Student Employee of the Semester (SOS) Award recognizes the efforts of System Offices student employees each spring and each fall semester.
Each award winner receives a certificate signed by the Chancellor, an engraved pen set and a $250 check.
The award recipients will be announced in conjunction with the announcement of recipient of the Employee of the Quarter Award during the spring and fall semesters (typically in March and December). A System Offices executive will present the certificates and engraved pen sets.
Nominations will be solicited from all System Offices employees. Nominations of System Offices student employees written by employees of other system members or people outside the System are welcome also. You can fill out and Submit the Form Online.
Nominations are due by the tenth day of the month preceding the award month (i.e., February and November) or the next working day if the tenth falls on a weekend or System Offices holiday. Nominations will remain active for consideration for only one SOS award cycle.
To be eligible for consideration, the student employee must meet the following criteria:
- The nominee must have four months continuous service with System Offices in a student worker or student technician position.
- The nominee must be attending an institution of higher learning or some other educational institution.
- The student must have been a credit to System Offices through his or her dedication, dependability, initiative, performance and punctuality.
The Employee of the Quarter (EOQ) Committee will serve as the selection committee for this award. (For details on the make-up of the EOQ committee, please see the EOQ award guidelines.) To avoid conflicts of interest, the EOQ committee members may not submit nominations.
