{"id":38490,"date":"2024-02-08T19:03:51","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T19:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tamus.edu\/hr\/?page_id=38490"},"modified":"2024-02-13T21:43:53","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T21:43:53","slug":"family-leave-pool","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tamus.edu\/hr\/employees\/family-leave-pool\/","title":{"rendered":"Family Leave Pool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong>Family Leave Pool<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>System Offices has established a family leave pool to provide a source of additional paid leave for leave eligible employees who have exhausted available sick, vacation, compensatory time and, if applicable, available sick leave pool.<\/p>\n<p>Family leave pool benefits are made available through voluntary donations of vacation and sick leave hours from current and terminating employees.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Employees may qualify for pool hours for any one of the following reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The birth of a child, including bonding, for the first year after the child\u2019s birth;<\/li>\n<li>The placement of a foster child or adoption of a child under 18 years of age;<\/li>\n<li>The placement of any person 18 years of age or older requiring guardianship;<\/li>\n<li>A serious illness to an immediate family member or the employee, including pandemic-related illness;<\/li>\n<li>An extenuating circumstance created by an ongoing pandemic, including providing essential care to a family member; or<\/li>\n<li>A previous donation of time to the pool.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An employee may not withdraw time from the family leave pool in an amount that exceeds the lesser of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One-third of the total time in the pool; or<\/li>\n<li>90 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong>Family Leave Pool Donations<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Employees may donate an unlimited amount of their accrued vacation or sick leave each fiscal year or upon separation from state employment. Donations must be made in 8-hour increments. Note that donations to the family leave pool may incur a tax expense to the donating employee.<\/p>\n<p>Human Resources thanks those employees who choose to donate available vacation and sick leave hours to the pool.
