Texas A&M University-Commerce
Texas A&M University-Commerce, founded in 1889, is home to northeast Texas’ only industrial engineering program and bachelor’s degree in wildlife and conservation science. An innovative partnership allows students to remain at the Navarro College campus in Corsicana and complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees. This partnership has graduated much-needed public school teachers for the central Texas region.

- Founded in 1889 as one of the older public universities in Texas, A&M-Commerce also has the unusual distinction of being the only university we know of whose founder—Prof. William Mayo—is interred on campus.
- Notable alumni include Sam Rayburn, former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives; Duane Allen of the music group the Oak Ridge Boys; and Mark Seliger, former chief photographer for Rolling Stone magazine.
- A new state-of-the-art Science and Technology Building, with one of the most technologically sophisticated planetariums in the Southwest, opened in January 2006.
