Texas Forest Service Fire Crew Sends Greeting to Iraq

FORT DAVIS—The Texas Forest Service Lone Star State Incident Management Team and firefighters battling the Davis Mountain Complex fires gathered after briefing to send a Memorial Day message to the troops in Iraq. Texas Forest Service Regional Fire Coordinator Doug Orms is an Apache helicopter pilot stationed in Iraq, and Russ Stoddard, husband of procurement unit leader Betty Stoddard, is also stationed in Baghdad.

The Davis Mountain Complex consisted of several lightning strike fires from a storm that hit the area May 23. The primary fires in the complex were the 3,200-acre Mitre Peak-King Mountain Fire and the 2,796-acre Buffalo Trail Boy Scout Fire. Firefighters were able to contain the fires by May 28.
