The entire A&M System was saddened by the retirement and subsequent death of Howard Graves. He devoted his life to serving others. He cared deeply about the welfare of his students, staff and the people of Texas. He truly epitomized the servant leader ideal.

Over-the-counter
drugs can now be purchased with Spending Account funds
The A&M
System's Health Care Spending Account program, which already
offers a tremendous tax benefit to many employees, just
got better. Participants can now purchase many over-the-counter
drugs using Spending Account funds.

plan enrollment and potential benefit changes highlight

Benefits Advisory Committee (SEBAC) elected new officers,
discussed the effects of recent premium increases on health
plan enrollment, and set the agenda for the rest of the
plan year.

tops 100,000 for the first time
The preliminary fall semester student headcount across the
nine universities in The Texas A&M University System
has surpassed 100,000 for the first time, at 100,264. In
fall 2002, the figure was 97,852.
The biggest percentage gains were found at Texas A&M
International University, which grew by 11.8 percent, from
3,724 students in fall 2002 to 4,162; and at Texas A&M
University-Kingsville, which grew by 7.9 percent, from 6,554
students to 7,704.
The biggest numerical gains were found at Tarleton State
University, which grew by 528 students (6.3 percent), from
8,320 to 8,848; and at Texas A&M-Kingsville, which added
520 students.
Enrollment at Texas A&M University dropped by 207, from
45,083 last fall to 44,876 this fall.
The number of students from outside Texas increased 10.7
percent over fall 2002, from 4,901 to 5,423. The number
of students enrolled in doctoral programs across the A&M
System rose by 10.1 percent, from 3,590 to 3,953.
