The U.S. House voted Dec. 7 to award Norman Borlaug, 1970 Nobel Peace Prize
recipient and a professor of agriculture and namesake of the Norman E.
Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture at Texas A&M University,
its highest civilian honor.
Dignitaries celebrate 100th anniversary of county agents
More than 200 Texas
Cooperative Extension administrators, agricultural producers, 4-H leaders,
county-based Extension agents, U.S. Department of Agriculture officials
and elected officials met in Tyler in November to celebrate the anniversary
of the hiring of the first county Extension agent.
A&M System
Regents approve building lease for San Antonio campus
The
A&M System Board of Regents on Dec. 1 voted to
lease building space from the South San Antonio Independent School District
that will more than double classroom capacity and provide additional infrastructure
needed for its Texas A&M University-Kingsville-System Center-San Antonio
that will become Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
TEEX OSHA Center ranks No. 1, receives Harwood grant
The Texas Engineering Extension Service OSHA Southwest Education Center
in Mesquite has trained more participants than any other Occupational
Safety and Health Administration Education Center for the third consecutive
year and has received a Susan Harwood Grant totaling more than $350,000.
TTI’s “Teens in the Driver Seat” wins
national award
The
American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has
presented the Texas Transportation Institute’s Teens in the Driver
Seat with its National President's Safety Award.
