(Kingsville)—Rumaldo Z. Juárez, president of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and Ray M. Keck III, president of Texas A&M International University, signed an intrasystem cooperative agreement June 20 to collaborate on their communication sciences and disorders programs.

The schools will work together to include more faculty and students in education and research. Plans include having faculty from both campuses teach via the Trans-Texas Videoconference Network and the Internet, pursuing collaborative research opportunities and working together to place students into summer externships.

“Sometimes, regional universities don’t have all the resources they need,” said Juarez. “What we do have are strong relationships with fellow universities like Texas A&M International University and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. From those relationships come good things, like today’s agreement.”

Keck echoed that sentiment, welcoming the chance to work with A&M-Kingsville and furthering the mission of intrasystem cooperation valued so highly by the Texas A&M University System, state officials, the public and the universities themselves. End of story
