John D. White of Houston is a fifth generation Texas rancher and second generation Aggie. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. While at Texas A&M, Mr. White was a Distinguished Military Student, a member of the Ross Volunteers and commander of the First Wing, Corps of Cadets. He earned his juris doctor from the University of Texas and began his career in the U.S. Air Force as Judge-Advocate.
Mr. White is a partner at Murphree Venture Partners LP, managing director of The Wind Alliance, and board chair of Standard Renewable Energy Group LLC.
Mr. White is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern districts of Texas. He is a fellow of the American, Texas and Houston Bar foundations, and a member of the State Bar of Texas. He is director of the Greater Houston Partnership and Houston Technology Center, board chair of the Association for Community Broadcasting and the Ed Rachal Foundation, and past president of the Texas Aggie Bar Association. He is a past member of the Texas A&M Vision 2020 Project Faculty Committee and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International Committee.
Mr. White was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry in 2003 and served until 2009. He was reappointed in January 2011. He served as Chairman of the Board from 2005-2007 and Vice Chairman of the Board from 2007-2009. His term expires February 1, 2015.
