Charles W. Schwartz

Schwartz_Charles_largestsizeMr. Charles Schwartz is a Partner, Houston Office Leader, and Head of Litigation at Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom LLP. He graduated from The University of Texas Law School in 1977 and Harvard Law School with an LL.M in 1980.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a member of the American Law Institute. He is a former Director of the State Bar of Texas from 2000 to 2004 and served as its Chairman from 2002 to 2003. He is a Life Benefactor Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and Houston Bar Foundation. He received the Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award from the Texas Bar Foundation in 2004. He served on the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline from 2008 to 2014.

Mr. Schwartz has been recognized by numerous publications including Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, 2013 BTI Client Service All-Stars, Best Lawyers in America, and
Texas Lawyer Go-To Guide.

Mr. Schwartz was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry in 2013. He is serving his second term as chair of the Committee on Finance and serves as a member of the Committee on Buildings and Physical Plant. He has served on the Policy Review Committee and the Committee on Academic and Student Affairs. Mr. Schwartz also serves as a board member of the Board for Lease of University Lands. His term expires February 1, 2019.
