As Chief of Staff, Smalley facilitates communication between the Chancellor, his executive committee, chief executive officers of System members, and external individuals. She handles operational and administrative matters in the System Offices and maintains continuity of the Chancellor’s affairs during his absence by resolving issues through referral to appropriate staff members or by obtaining advice from others for required action.
Smalley and her staff handle special events for the Chancellor and oversee System building issues. She manages the Chancellor’s Office budget and is responsible for the Board of Regents agenda item submission and review process.
