Analysis of the Criteria used to admit students
Three items are considered in determining the eligibility of an undergraduate student to be admitted to Texas A&M University-Texarkana. These items are: (1) completion of a minimum of 30 semester credit hours of college level work, (2) minimum 2.00 grade point average, and (3) student must have satisfied the Texas Success Initiative.
Criteria for Financial Aid

- Submission of financial aid application by preset deadline

The criteria selected above is for need-based aid. Additional criteria includes: student contribution, residency, citizenship, outside resources received, default status, good standing with the University, and being clear with the Admissions Office.

100% of students who successfully complete the financial aid process at Texas A&M University-Texarkana are offered some type of financial assistance. The student has the option to accept or reject any or all of their award.
Analysis of the criteria used to award financial aid
For need based aid, students whose financial aid file is complete by May 1st deadline are given "preference" to federal, state, and institutional aid. Priority students are ranked by: 1) EFC, then 2) date file is complete. All remaining applicants are awarded as file is complete and awards are based on availability of funds.
For scholarships, students must submit scholarship application by preset deadline and meet all criteria for each scholarship applying for. Scholarships are awarded to student/s with the highest eligibility.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana charges the lowest tuition and fees of any public university in the state of Texas based on the 2004-05 College Student Budgets compiled by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Fifteen semester credit hours of in-state undergraduate tuition for two semesters at Texas A&M University-Texarkana costs $2,922. We also charge lower tuition and fees as compared to our out-of-state peer institutions.
Tuition costs from our peer institutions listed below are based on 15 semester credit hours for two semesters of undergraduate in-state tuition and fees as reported by the Cashier’s Office of each institution for the 2004-2005 academic year: Arkansas Tech University $4,158, University of Arkansas at Monticello $3,625, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff $4,024, Henderson State University $4,167, Southern Arkansas State University $3,878.
