Analysis of the Criteria used to admit students

Effective with fall 2005, Texas A&M University-Kingsville applied some selectivity to its freshmen class, making the High School Recommended Curriculum the default admissions criteria. Transfer students and graduate students must meet a combination of college grade point average and/or test score composites for entrance to Texas A&M-Kingsville

Analysis of the criteria used to award financial aid

TAMUK has a priority deadline for awarding students for any given award period. We use federal methodology in calculating students awards by the Expected Family Contribution from the Student Aid Report. Awards do not exceed Cost of Attendance. Parental Contribution is already calculated in the federal methodology for Dependent students.

Comparison of this institution to peer institutions in-state and out-of-state

Texas A&M University-Kingsville, as did most institutions in Texas, raised tuition and fees this past year. When compared with the other South Texas Universities, A&M Corpus, UTPAM, UT-Brownsville and A&M International, we are second behind A&M Corpus in terms of cost for tuition and fees. However, when considering all costs, tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation and personal expenses, we still provide the best value in South Texas being $1,500 dollars less expensive then the next lowest institution.
