The only undergraduate students who attend the Health Science Center are dental hygiene students in the Allied Health program of the College of Dentistry. They transfer in during their junior year, then complete a two-year program.

While the majority of undergraduate enrollment comes from the Metroplex area, the home site of the HSC Dental Hygiene program, the program is advertised state-wide and application from all regions of Texas is encouraged.

Analysis of the Criteria used to admit students

Periodic reviews of the criteria against actual performance after admission are performed. Use of grades, scores on national examinations and licensing exams are utilized in this review. Successful meeting of the criteria offers a good prediction of academic success in the program.

Students who complete the required application and meet criteria receive financial aid. As always, there continues to be a need for more scholarship support. The criteria for financial aid are functioning effectively.
