Jerry M. Brown practices in both the Litigation & Dispute Resolution section and the Student Affairs & Special Projects section, where he is the Managing Counsel. His litigation & dispute resolution practice involves coordination of the Texas Attorney General's representation of System members in federal and state lawsuits. He represents the System and its members in internal hearings and before federal agencies and regulatory bodies like the Department of Education and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Additionally, Jerry advises System members on general employment matters, tort claims, and student conduct issues. Jerry's special projects practice focuses on developing System-wide training modules and doing investigations related to catastrophic incidents like the June 2008 capsizing of the S/V Cynthia Woods and the January 2009 Texas Army National Guard helicopter crash on the Texas A&M University campus. His section is also responsible for initiatives of the Board of Regents, System member presidents and directors, and the General Counsel.
Jerry joined the Office of General Counsel in September 1998. Prior to joining the office he was a civil trial lawyer with a Bryan, Texas law firm. Before attending law school he was a litigation support consultant and a law firm administrator.
