Year/Chancellor Function/Chair
1982
Dr. Arthur E. Hansen

Formation Catalyst: TAMU’s Legislative Study Group (LSG) was active in advocating a Student Regent appointment to the System’s Board of Regents.

An organization evolved to forge relationship with the student government groups across the four A&M System campuses.  Chancellor Hansen saw a need for a system-level student organization to address issues common to all campuses.  He also recognized the cultural diversity within these campuses and the potential to share various talents across these four campuses.  The Chancellor provided this group with the opportunities to interact with the Board by inviting them to all the Board of Regents meetings and including them on social functions with the Board members.
