 9) What should I do if a retiree or retiree's spouse dies, and we find out several months after-the-fact?

When the spouse (or other dependent) of a retiree dies and you don’t find out until a month or two later, change the coverage on the 115 screen, setting stop dates to the end of the month in which they died.  Modify the amounts on any invoices created after the month in which they died, decreasing the invoice amounts, including the employer SGIP amounts, to the appropriate coverage amounts (i.e. Employee Only).  If any of the invoices you’ve changed have been paid, request a refund.  After a refund has been issued, and Billing Month-End process has run, modify the receipt(s).

If the retiree dies, back out (zero) any invoices created after the month in which they died.  Change all amounts on the invoice (including the employer SGIP amounts) to 0 (zero).  If any of the invoices you’ve changed have been paid, request a refund.  After the refund has been issued, and Billing Month-End process has run, modify the receipt(s).
