The Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, with headquarters in College Station, is one of the largest and busiest veterinary diagnostic labs in the world, receiving more than 200,000 requests per year from Texas animal industries for assistance in diagnosing animal diseases. The agency has two full-service laboratories (College Station and Amarillo) and two poultry laboratories (Center and Gonzales). The College Station facility houses the state’s only Biosafety Level 3 veterinary diagnostic labs. Completed in 2004, the two labs are equipped to deal with the deadliest animal diseases.
